Iran Improves 4x400m Relay Record After 29 Years

TEHRAN, June 23 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran ended a 29-year wait on June 22 as it broke 4x400m relay record after almost three decades in Kazakhstan, said Athletics Federation on Monday.

According to the federation, a four-member track-and-field team of Iran's Islamic Azad University (IAU) clocked 3:09.08 minutes, winning the gold of Kazanov Cup and breaking the record of the country set by the quartet Entezari, Alamshah, Arshadi, and Kuwaiti 29 years ago in the Asian Games in Tehran.

IAU’s team was composed of Mohammad Akefian, Ehsan Mohajer-Shojaei, Esmaeil Kaboutaran, and Vahid Yazdani-Nejad.

The host Kazakhstan snatched the silver and Uzbekistan took the bronze medal.
